Urology

The Urology department deals with both male and female urinary and genital problems which might require medical or surgical treatment.

We run specialist clinics for lower urinary tract symptoms, kidney stones, prostate assessment, haematuria (blood in the urine), urodynamics, andrology and children. Community based clinics are also held in Ledbury, Ross on Wye, Leominster, Llandrindod Wells and Brecon.

Wye Valley NHS Trust is part of the Three Counties Cancer Network and all patients are discussed at a Multidisciplinary Team meeting with Pathology, Radiology and Oncology colleagues.

Outline of the Department

The department consists of four full time equivalent Consultants, three clinical nurse specialist in Urology – oncology, five full time secretaries and four bowel and bladder health clinical specialists.

All surgery takes place in dedicated Urology theatres.

Links with other Departments

We work closely with Radiology, Pathology, Oncology and Surgery. Weekend Urological cover is shared with the Urology department at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
