People who would like to learn more about skin cancer or have been affected by skin cancer are invited to a free Herefordshire health and wellbeing day on Wednesday, July 13, at the Kindle Centre in Hereford.
The event is the first dedicated skin cancer health and wellbeing day to be held in the county, which is being organised by the dermatology and skin cancer team at Wye Valley NHS Trust, and funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.
The day will provide an opportunity to meet healthcare professionals and find out about local support services, such as Hereford Yeleni Centre. Halo Leisure will also attend and complementary therapy taster sessions from local support services will be available.
Sophie Davis, Macmillan skin cancer support worker at Wye Valley NHS Trust, said: “We’re delighted to organise this event on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support to ensure that people concerned about or living with skin cancer, and patients being monitored by Hereford County Hospital skin cancer specialists, have access to the right information and support during and after treatment.
“This is a great opportunity to bring together local organisations and support services under one roof, offering practical help and advice on emotional and physical wellbeing, protecting your skin, signs and symptoms of skin cancer, and the importance of taking care of yourself when living with and beyond skin cancer”.
Tudor Humphreys, Macmillan development manager for Herefordshire, added: “We know that people affected by cancer need additional help and support beyond treatment and health and wellbeing events are a good way for people to find out more about the services and support available to them.”
There are a limited number of places available for the day, so anyone interested in attending on Wednesday July 13, should call Sophie Davis by July 1, on 01432 355444 extension 5409 or email Sophie.email@example.com
