Clinical Chemistry
Clinical Chemistry is a section of the Blood Sciences Department of the Pathology Laboratory at The County Hospital. The section performs blood and urine tests on 1000 samples daily, with about 13,000 tests performed per day. These samples originate from all over Herefordshire and parts of Powys. Most tests are performed on the day of receipt of the sample. Because of confidentiality we will not give results to a patient and ask for you to contact your healthcare professional for your results. The Blood Sciences department is fully accredited with CPA who are the national accreditation body for pathology. The department is staffed by a Consultant and Principle Biochemist, 14 other scientific staff and support staff.
