Qualifications
Mr Bissell studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital London, graduating in 1994. His orthopaedic training was in Oxford and Southampton; completed with fellowships in limb construction with Roger Atkins and foot and ankle surgery with James Calder.
Since 2007 he has offered a comprehensive Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle service, including Trauma. He has served as Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics, during which time the department expanded its’ Upper Limb and Foot and Ankle service. He has been invited as Faculty on numerous Regional, National and International Educational Courses for Trauma and/or Foot and Ankle Surgery. In addition, he has been invited as Faculty for several International Foot and Ankle Conferences. He has developed the Diabetic Foot Team at Wye Valley NHS Trust which, as a close-knit multi-disciplinary unit, has reduced the major amputation rate in Herefordshire’s diabetic population.
Outside of direct clinical care, Mr Bissell had been the hospital’s lead appraiser before being appointed Associate Medical Director for Productivity, covering Wye Valley, South Warwickshire and George Eliot Trusts.
