Arnold Salva, assistant practitioner, moved to Hereford in 2015 to start a new venture in his life. "Wye Valley NHS Trust has provided me with prefect structure to help me achieve my goals and deliver my targets".
My name is Arnold Salva and I moved to the UK from Philippines six years ago. Like everyone else I dreamt for a better opportunity and better life. I worked in a nursing home as senior carer for six years and during those years I always wanted to pursue my nursing career. When Wye Valley NHS Trust then opened its door it provided me with the opportunity to purse my nursing career.
In 2015 I moved to Hereford and started working at Hereford County Hospital. Moving out of your comfort zone is not easy. I have always lived in Swansea since coming to the UK. I consider it my home but for some reason something was always missing.
I am being supported to attain my band 5 as qualified nurse
I always believed in the right time and right place. Months before moving to Hereford I was on the verge of losing my hope to practice my nursing profession but then Hereford County Hospital gave me an opportunity to be part of a 12 week training programme to get me to a band 4 assistant practitioner position and now I am being supported to attain my band 5 as qualified nurse.
Apart from giving me all the support that I need, the programme gave me more confidence in myself, I gained friends and now I am looking forward to what else is in store for me.
I'm excited as I am one step away from fulfilling my dream to finally work as a nurse again in the United Kingdom.
Wye Valley NHS Trust has provided me with prefect structure to help me achieve my goals and deliver my targets. I can describe the working environment as open, relaxed, very engaging, informative, and interesting, it can be stressful but above all its fun.
The training I had allowed me to interact, while learning my skills and knowledge which I was able to apply to my role. The skills that I learnt to date are invaluable and extremely beneficial to me.
I can say that this is a great place to work
Hereford County Hospital provides a great friendly atmosphere that brings together people from all walks of life to combine and provide an effective and high level service to its patients. I can say that this is a great place to work.
