The NHS Constitution was launched on 21st January 2009 providing clarity for staff, patients and taxpayers about what they can expect from the NHS and what is expected from them.
In 2012 the NHS Constitution was updated. The new version of the Constitution, which applies to England, replaces the previous version of the Constitution published in 2010.
There is no prescription for how we are implementing the Constitution, however there is a legal requirement to take account of it whilst performing our functions. There is an expectation of high levels of awareness among staff and patients.
We are taking the following actions to raise awareness of the Constitution among patients, staff and visitors to the Wye Valley NHS Trust:
- The constitution and supporting documents will be available on Wye Valley NHS Trust website
- The constitution is appropriately publicised throughout the Trust and leaflets will be available for the public in reception
- The constitution is appropriately publicised to all staff within the Trust
