If you have been referred by your GP they will have automatically made you an appointment via the “Choose and Book” system, though please note this is subject to change and the RMC may contact you to change this. Respiratory consultants specialise in disorders relating to the lungs. These disorders are diagnosed after investigations are carried out, such as pulmonary function tests and/or bronchoscopy. The consultants interpret the results of these investigations to guide treatment which is commonly delivered through the use of drugs, such as inhalers. The Intensive Therapy Unit has six beds and provides both High Dependency (level 2) and Intensive Care (Level 3). We are able to provide all forms of multi-organ support for critically ill patients. We provide an Outreach service, staffed by experienced critical care nurses. This allows early intervention in critically ill patients, ward staff education and ITU patient follow-up. We are part of the Birmingham and Black Country Critical Network and submit data to the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC). The Nephrology (Renal) Department at Hereford County Hospital (Wye Valley NHS Trust) is a satellite tertiary care service for care patients who require urgent or routine referrals for outpatient care. Urgent inpatient care is provided initially by an Acute Medical Team with access to the Nephrology Specialism for advice and guidance when it is required.. The Dietetic Department provides services to patients in The County Hospital and Community Hospitals.
