Wye Valley NHS Trust’s Breast Team has launched a Breast Pain (Mastalgia) Clinic to help better manage what is a quite common condition which often causes unnecessary anxiety for patients. The reality is that these referrals, where breast pain is the main symptom, rarely lead to diagnosis of cancer. This new clinic will reduce the number of referrals and therefore reduce the number of patients experiencing unnecessary worry and concern. At present, more than 20 per cent of referrals to…
Close and loving relationships Babies are born very dependent on their parents. Their brains undergo huge development in the first two years of life. Research in a relatively new branch of science called Epigenetics is showing just how important close and loving relationships with our primary caregivers are to our long term emotional health and wellbeing. This ensures that we regularly review the outcome of our patients and ensures the provision of a…
The Herefordshire General Practice Local Enhanced Service (LES) Agreement 2026/27 has been updated – this enables GP practices to provide follow-up wound care for a wider group of suitable patients. The key change (which came into effect in summer 2026) affects patients with post-surgical wounds and those attending the Emergency Department (ED). Under the revised pathway, patients who meet the agreed LES criteria should usually be directed to their registered Herefordshire GP practice for ongoing wound care, rather than the WVT Wound Care Service. This applies to both adults and children. GP practices can provide care for simple wounds that…
