We are pleased to welcome you to the purpose built Day Case Surgical Unit at Hereford County Hospital, which opened in July 2024.  The unit provides modern, state-of-the-art facilities, for our patients.   The types of procedure offered in the new unit include a mix of day case surgeries, including gynaecology, urology, general surgical, orthopaedic and cataract procedures. Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy are procedures that are both performed in the Endoscopy Department at The County Hospital. They are both a form of investigation to examine the lungs but the way they are carried out is very different. They are both carried out by a respiratory consultant, sometimes two. In the case of thoracoscopy, there is also the addition of an anaesthetist.
