Inflammatory arthritis activity can vary and there will be times when it is manageable and other times when you may experience flare-ups. A flare-up of your inflammatory arthritis may include symptoms such as worsening of joint pain, swelling, stiffness, fatigue and general “unwell” feeling. Flare-ups are unpredictable and can start suddenly or after an illness such as a chest or urinary infection or a stressful period (physical or mental). Triggers may not always be identifiable. Many Rheumatology conditions are life-long, but, with the right treatment, the symptoms can be well controlled for prolonged periods of time, enabling you to get on with your daily life. However, because things can change over time, we usually arrange follow-up appointments at regular intervals. This may mean that you take time off from work, or other activities, to attend the appointments when they are well. PIFU allows you to have a greater control over your appointments. We encourage all patients to take an active role in their care, and we want to make sure your follow up appointments work better for you. We know that attending appointments can be time consuming, costly and cause worry. We are learning from you that follow up appointments are not always useful or needed. The Delivery Suite at Hereford County Hospital provides both Consultant-led and Midwife-led care. It is situated on the second floor, adjacent to the Maternity Ward. The Delivery Suite is equipped to meet your needs and you will be offered the full range and choice of pain relief options, depending on your birth plan. Once you’ve had your baby, you’ll move to the Maternity Ward.  Our delivery suite comprises of five, good sized birthing rooms. The midwifery led tongue tie clinic for babies at Hereford County Hospitla offers quick and painless tongue-tie divisions to make it easier for babies to feed. Dedicated midwives are specially trained to carry out the minor procedure on babies who are up to ten weeks old. The clinic brings treatment closer to home for parents and their babies.
