Referral criteria and response time

Referral to general podiatry is through your GP or other Healthcare Professional.

The service will triage referrals taking into account your medical history, foot condition and level of pain, prioritising those patients with greatest need. 

Nail surgery is available to patients from 12 years upwards. Children biomechanics available to children aged 8-17 years.

We work to the 18 week referral to treatment time. Urgent referrals are given priority and seen in the next available clinic. Urgent referrals to the Podiatric Specialist in Diabetes are usually seen within 3 days.

Podiatry referral can be made via Electronic  Referral System or paper referral forms are accepted at any clinic site.

Referrals to nail surgery are via letter to Professional Lead for Podiatry at Sarum House, 3 St Ethelbert Street, Hereford. HR1 2NS. 01432 677320.

Referrals for children's biomechanics are via letter to Podiatric surgery, Ruckhall Lane, Belmont. HR2 9RP.

Referral to the Podiatric Specialist in Diabetes is direct, via letter to the Diabetes Centre, County Hospital, Hereford.  HR1 2ER.
