Referral to treatment - waiting times We have put a number of measures in place to reduce waiting times for patients following the pandemic and the sustained pressure on NHS services.  We have provided additional capacity within the organisation, including extra procedure lists, additional clinics including at weekends, where possible, to reduce these waiting times. The Respiratory Department manages a significant amount of patients in the outpatient setting. This is where people are investigated, managed and monitored by attending clinics. Patients who visit from home (also called “outpatients”) are given medical treatment or advice in these clinics and often receive regular follow up. Clinics are led by a clinician that can be a doctor or allied healthcare professional with specialist knowledge about Respiratory or a sub-specialty of Respiratory. The Neurophysiology department at The County Hospital provides a comprehensive neurophysiology diagnostic service to both inpatients and outpatients. Investigations include EEG (Electroencephalogram), Ambulatory EEG, Multiple Sleep Latency Testing and Evoked Responses. The service also provides physiologist and consultant led nerve conduction studies and consultant only electromyography (EMG). We accept GP referrals for most of our investigations.  All GP referrals can now be made via the NHS e-referral system. About our service The Children's Community Nurses (CCN) provide nursing care to children aged 0 up to their 18th birthday who have an identified nursing need and are registered with a Herefordshire GP. This extends to the age of 19 years for those in specialist educational setting. Care is provided to enable Children and Young Peoples' acute and complex health needs to be managed in their own homes, schools and respite centres. The service may also include providing families with specialist equipment, guidance and education in medical/nursing procedures and sign posting families to other services.
