Back to Orthopaedics The orthotics department offers assessment, advice and provision of orthoses, these are bodily devices applied in such a manner to reduce pain, improve function and mobility. The orthopeadic surgeon may suggest the use of an orthotic as part of your treatment. Orthoses include: callipers insoles special footwear spinal ankle and knee braces beltshosiery collars fracture bracing post operative splinting Orthotics is based in the Therapy Services department at Hereford County Hospital.   The administration team can be contacted on 01432 372934 or orthotics.wvt@nhs.net     
We provide a full range of diagnostic services to all of Herefordshire together with some areas of Powys, Shropshire and Monmouthshire. Patients are referred to the department from a variety of sources such as GPs, hospital wards, clinics and the Accident and Emergency department. Outline of the Department Our department is well-equipped with two Multi-Slice CT scanners, two MRI scanners, Ultrasound scanners, and Nuclear Medicine service, Fluoroscopy, Mammography and Plain Film Radiography. Together, we assess and treat conditions affecting the upper part of your digestive system, including your oesophagus (gullet), stomach, gallbladder, bile ducts, and liver. We provide care for a wide range of non-cancerous (benign) conditions, such as gallstones, acid reflux, and hernias. All patients and visitors to this department must use the designated A&E entrance. There is a drop-off and collection point at the main A&E entrance, and designated parking spaces for individuals with disabilities. The parking area is managed by a private contractor and charges apply, though concessions are available. There is more information on how to find us and available parking.
Referral to general podiatry is through your GP or other Healthcare Professional. The service will triage referrals taking into account your medical history, foot condition and level of pain, prioritising those patients with greatest need.  Nail surgery is available to patients from 12 years upwards. Children biomechanics available to children aged 8-17 years. We work to the 18 week referral to treatment time. Urgent referrals are given priority and seen in the next available clinic. Most pregnancies will only require care from a midwife and sometimes an obstetrician.  Very occasionally we may identify a concern with your baby’s growth or development that requires input from a specialist fetal medicine consultant. At Hereford County Hospital we do not have this facility on site. It is therefore, at times, necessary to refer you to another hospital.  In most cases this will be to Worcester Royal Hospital, but occasionally can be to Birmingham Women’s Hospital.
