About the Service School Nurses are public health nurses working in the community, they are registered nurses with an additional public health nursing qualification. School Nurses have specialist knowledge and skills to enable them to work with children and young people aged from 5-19. The School Nursing team is comprised of School Nurses, Community Staff Nurses and School Nurse Assistants and as a service we are committed to supporting students, therefore a student may accompany us and be present during contacts. The Haematology Department provides diagnostic (often on a one-stop basis) and treatment facilities for a wide range of benign and malignant conditions including acute and chronic leukaemias, myeloma, lymphomas, anaemias, bleeding and clotting disorders. The department runs anticoagulation clinics across the county in Ross on Wye, Ledbury, Leominster, Kingsland and Hereford using near patient testing and computerised decision support software (DAWN system). What we do Children’s Physiotherapy is a specialist community physiotherapy service for babies, children and young people living in Herefordshire.  Children’s physiotherapists have additional knowledge and experience of child development and childhood disabilities.  Children’s physiotherapists are responsible for the assessment and physical rehabilitation of children and young people who are identified as having difficulties with the development of gross motor skills and mobility as a result of accident, injury, disease or disability.  They also see children with specific conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, gait anomalies and life-limiting conditions.  Children’s’ physiotherapists use a variety of…
The ‘Macmillan Renton Unit’ is a purpose built outpatient facility at Wye Valley NHS Trust, in Hereford, which opened in 2011. Macmillan Renton is an outpatient unit caring for patients who have cancer or where cancer is suspected. Haematology outpatient appointments are also held in this unit. Outpatient clinics as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy are held daily (Monday to Friday), as well as other treatments, such as blood transfusions.  The Unit is supported by a broad range of staff.
