We have introduced a new telephone system within Maternity Triage to reduce unnecessary wait times and improve patient experience by allowing calls from women, birthing people and their families to be prioritised. If you are on a Rheumatology medication that suppresses your immune system (table above) and you come in close contact with someone who has shingles or chickenpox, you should contact your GP for advice as treatment may be required.   Close contact is: Being in the same room as someone who has shingles or chickenpox for more than 15 minutes or Having contact with someone who has chickenpox or shingles on many parts of their body or exposed (e.g., on the face).   If possible, you should keep away from someone you know who has chickenpox or shingles.
