Referral to general podiatry is through your GP or other Healthcare Professional. The service will triage referrals taking into account your medical history, foot condition and level of pain, prioritising those patients with greatest need. Nail surgery is available to patients from 12 years upwards. Children biomechanics available to children aged 8-17 years. We work to the 18 week referral to treatment time. Urgent referrals are given priority and seen in the next available clinic. Urgent referrals to the Podiatric Specialist in Diabetes are usually seen within 3 days. Gynaecology is the branch of medicine that deals with disorders of the woman’s reproductive system. We deal with various women’s health problems including early pregnancy ones. The doctors in the department are also obstetricians and so work closely with the midwives in the maternity department. There are some clinics that take place on the second floor Women's Health area and are shared with the antenatal clinics and the pregnancy scanning department. Most pregnancies will only require care from a midwife and sometimes an obstetrician. Very occasionally we may identify a concern with your baby’s growth or development that requires input from a specialist fetal medicine consultant. At Hereford County Hospital we do not have this facility on site. It is therefore, at times, necessary to refer you to another hospital. In most cases this will be to Worcester Royal Hospital, but occasionally can be to Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Welcome to our paediatric outpatient department and Children's Ward. The Paediatric department (Children's ward) provides inpatient and outpatient treatment of medical and surgical conditions, in children from birth up to the seventeenth birthday. The Children's ward deals with medical conditions and also provides facilities for many surgical specialties. The majority of children needing surgery can be treated in Hereford. However, surgery in young children (generally under two years of age) and specialist surgery is referred to a specialist Children’s hospital, usually Birmingham.
