The Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) is a clinic, which assesses women in early pregnancy who have bleeding or pain (up to 18 weeks of pregnancy).  It is located on the second floor of Hereford County Hospital, within the women's health department. Your GP or Accident and Emergency doctor will arrange your appointment for you. We aim to diagnose your problem, offer advice, support and any treatment which may be needed. Birth to 2 hours During this time you will be on Delivery Suite having your well-earned tea and toast and bath while your midwife finishes all of your labour and birth notes. About this service The Pain Management Service supports people suffering from acute (short term) pain whilst in hospital or living with chronic pain (long term pain). The service aims to reduce pain where possible, and help people live the best possible life with ongoing pain.  Chronic pain means long term or persistent pain.
