Welcome to the One Herefordshire Pharmacy webpage.

Something very special is happening in Herefordshire!

We're pioneering a new kind of partnership across several organisations in the county to realise benefits for patients by creating an effective and sustainable first class pharmacy service for Herefordshire.

Our Aim

The aim of the One Herefordshire Pharmacy is to help pharmacy teams across the county work collaboratively so patients get the most benefit from their medicines through efficient and effective pharmacy services.

Who is involved?

The orgnanisations which are working in partnership within One Herefordshire Pharmacy are:

  • Wye Valley NHS Trust (combined acute and community services)
  • Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust (providing mental health services across Herefordshire
  • Taurus Healthcare (Herefordshire’s GP federation representing our five Primary Care Networks)
  • Herefordshire and Worcestershire Local Pharmaceutical Committee representing  27 Community Pharmacies across Herefordshire

How will we achieve this?

To achieve this we need a well-trained and enthusiastic pharmacy workforce able to create a portfolio way of working across the sectors.

Growing our own workforce through exciting new cross-sector training in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy and the rapidly developing area of pharmacy services in primary care networks is only the start.

We aim to attract, develop and retain pharmacy staff from other areas by providing opportunities to experience all three sectors in a supportive and professional environment.

Being able to move seamlessly between the different pharmacy sectors is our ultimate aim.

We want pharmacy staff to enjoy the variety of working in different places and environments but all with the beautiful backdrop of the Herefordshire landscape nestling in the shadow of the breath-taking Brecon Beacons.

What we can offer

Because of the unique way we are bringing pharmacy services together in the county, we can offer unique opportunities to our staff.

These include:

  • Trainee positons for pharmacists and technicians; either as part of a cross-sector programme or by providing a single-sector training placement (with short placements in other sectors, if required)
  • Development roles for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, in managerial and clinical positions
  • Specialist roles in acute and community services (relocation expenses available)
  • Mental health pharmacy experience in our inpatient and community-based mental health services
  • Clinical diploma (for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians)  Independent prescribing opportunities (with a supportive development team to help you achieve these qualifications and reach your potential)
  • Pharmacy professional leadership support for our Primary Care Network teams
  • Opportunities  to be involved in research and training clinical staff through fellowships
