Funerals arrangements and remembering your baby

Funeral arrangements

The maternity staff will be able to support you in choosing and arranging a funeral for your baby, this may be a burial or cremation. It is important to know, there is no rush and you will be supported and signposted throughout this decision.

Remembering your baby

The name of your baby will be put into a Book of Remembrance which rests open on the relevant month in the hospital chapel. These names will be read out at our yearly Baby Memorial Service which happens every year in July.
If this is something you wish to opt out of, please let the bereavement midwife know as soon as possible.

BLAW

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together to remember much-loved and missed babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.

Every year Hereford midwives and wider staff will participate in different events that are organised and run by the bereavement midwife and the local SANDs group. Usually there is a lantern walk, memorial service at Hereford Cathedral and lighting of a candle in the yearly #Waveoflight
