Our local smoking cessation support workers, Vikki and Cassey, are with you every step of the way to help you become smoke free.

They offer a FREE 12 week programme, including, weekly meet ups at a venue to suit you and your family and are available for face to face or telephone contacts.  Venues where we can meet you include at your home, the antenatal clinic, on the wards (where appropriate) or at a venue to suit you.

Vikki and Cassey can also support your partner or household members and there is ongoing postnatal support on offer.

You are twice as likely to quit with nicotine replacement treatment and professional support.

Stopping smoking will help both you and your baby immediately. Harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide, and other damaging chemicals will clear from your body.

  • you will reduce the risk of complications in pregnancy and birth and you are more likely to have a healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby
  • you will reduce the risk of stillbirth
  • your baby is less likely to be born too early and have to face the breathing, feeding and health problems that often go with being premature
  • you will reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), also known as "cot death".

Support to stop smoking in Herefordshire - for families

In addition to the support offered during pregnancy by our Trust, Herefordshire residents, and those registered with one of the county’s GPs, are entitled to expert support from Herefordshire Council/Talk Community stop smoking service - find out more. It provides:

  • 12 weeks of personal stop smoking support
  • Face-to-face behavioural support - you can choose from a range of nicotine replacement therapy options to help you
  • Support if you choose to use e-cigarettes
