How to give feedback

As a team we always strive to provide a high standard of care.

However, if you have any immediate concerns about your care and feel unable to share these with the midwife caring for you, the midwife in charge on that day would be happy to see you and listen to your concerns.

Our ward managers and patient safety midwife is also available to speak to you, Monday to Friday 8am until 4pm.  The contact details are included on our Visiting and Contact Details section of the website.

Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS)

The Patient Experience Team is here to help you.

We welcome comments about your experiences of our services and would like to receive feedback about what you liked and did not like, together with your suggestions of how you think our services can be improved.

We would like you to contact the Patient Experience Team at the earliest opportunity so we can resolve your concerns or complaint as quickly as possible.

This is a confidential service for patients, relatives and carers to help with any questions or concerns about local health services.

A member of the Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) will be happy to meet with you to discuss any issues you may have about the services we provide.

PALS are here to support you, through liaising with the relevant staff to resolve your concerns as quickly as possible.

Making a complaint

We recognise that we will not get things right all the time and if at any point the service and treatment you receive does not meet your expectations it is important that you tell us about your experience. We take all complaints very seriously.

It is important that you make your complaint as soon as possible after the event.

Under the NHS Complaints Procedure a complaint must be made not later than 12 months after:

• The date of the event which is subject of the complaint; or

• The date on which you realised you had something to complain about.

Friends and family feedback

As you progress through your pregnancy and access different services, you will be given the opportunity to answer the NHS Friends and Family Test.  The Friends and Family Test is a simple question that patients will be asked about the care they have received.  The test is part of a way of gathering patient feedback and driving improvement in NHS hospital services across the country.  Find out more about the Friends and Family Test.
